There are many misconceptions about massage therapy. This website describes the advanced Remedial Therapy I practice fusing Eastern philosophy and Western science. Incorporating the fundamentals of Physiotherapy assessing pain, dysfunction and injury, postural anomaly and structural asymmetry. Treatment guided by the principles of energetic Qi flow.

Simon Crittenden, Remedial Massage Therapist practising a fusion of East and West

"The majority of the work I do is therapeutic massage treating pain and injury."

Roughly half of my clients seek regular Massage and Remedial Therapy to ease pain, recover from heavy physical loading at work or sport, and manage stress. Others are experiencing conditions for which conventional treatment has given limited temporary relief and they wish to explore the possibilities of the East and West I practice.

"Treatment is largely massage based to release tightness, strengthen weakness and promote circulation together with Fascial Release techniques, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Chinese Cupping and Gua Sha, while attending to pelvic distortion and strain from structural leg length discrepancy and treating in accordance with energetic Qi flow principles."

Detailed under the “Treatments” tab are Remedial Massage, Sports Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral, Wholistic Massage Therapy and specialist knowledge of Short Right Leg Syndrome used in my practice with influences from Chinese, Thai and Swedish Massage styles, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Physiotherapy and Osteopathy. Included are treatement protocols and insights to many common conditions.

"Providing a fusion of East and West...this is more than the simple act of using assorted Traditional Chinese Medical techniques in conjunction with the science of physical therapy. It is the palpable awareness of energetic Qi flow in the body giving insight to conditions not fully understood by conventional therapists."

"Energetically, the primary principle at play is a proximal block at hip or shoulder having a distal effect on the limb. Causing a subtle thickening and tightening through the connective tissue which under loading and other influencing factors can morph into pain, dysfunction and injury impacting both mobility and internal health."

"Athletic experience...optimise performance, enhance recovery and manage injury."

"Shoulders transform from rigid blocks to exquisitely supple joints with unresisting, large radius, fluid like circular movement...rapidly resolving conditions in the arms."

"It is all about the energy...yet the treatment is very physical."

"Specialist knowledge of Short Right Leg Syndrome, its two Signature Traits, Three Cardinal Signs and Pelvic Block. The effects from structural leg length discrepancy distorting and straining pelvic alignment is the underlying cause for many lower limb, lumbro-sacral and spinal issues. With few exceptions, we all have a short right leg. It is a dominant genetic trait."

"Wholistic Massage Therapy weaving through the labyrinth of sinews, energetic Qi flow and historic trauma to clear heaviness and blackness burdening our being."

"Tightness...creeping beneath the threshold of awareness, robbing us of the softness and flexibility of youth."

"It always comes back to massage with knowing, sensitive and strong hands to achieve the ultimate therapy."

"Everyone can benefit from massage."
